Every student deserves to feel capable of success in English.
The English Studio was founded on the belief that great teaching is about far more than improving grades. It is about building confidence, developing curiosity and helping students discover the power of language through thoughtful, personalised tuition.
The philosophy behind The English Studio
Having worked in schools, I have seen first-hand how easily students can be left behind—not because they lack ability, but because classrooms cannot always provide the individual attention they need.
Some lose confidence after years of believing they are "just not good at English". Others come to see the subject as a collection of formulas designed to pass examinations, rather than an opportunity to think critically, communicate clearly and engage with ideas.
That is why I created The English Studio.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual, creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing genuine confidence in their own abilities. Strong grades are the result of confident thinking, careful guidance and genuine understanding. My goal is to help students develop all three.
-
Every student begins from a different place, but every student is capable of meaningful progress with the right guidance. My lessons are designed to build confidence through individual support, thoughtful challenge and a learning environment where questions and mistakes are welcomed as part of the process.
-
While strong exam technique is important, I believe the best results come from genuine understanding rather than memorising templates. Students are encouraged to think critically, engage with ideas and develop their own voice, building skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
-
As a student, I once believed I simply wasn't "good at maths". Facing that fear taught me that confidence can be developed through persistence, curiosity and the willingness to ask questions. That experience shapes the way I teach today, creating a space where students feel supported to grow and believe in their own potential.

Student Success Stories
Every student begins in a different place, but thoughtful support, personalised teaching and growing confidence are at the heart of every success story.
“Maria helped me understand how to approach both the reading and writing papers strategically. Going through past papers together made me much more confident with prose texts and helped me reduce my mistakes. Thanks to her support, I achieved Grade 9 in both English Language and English Literature.”

“Maria reminded me why I chose English Literature. After failing my GCSEs, I had lost confidence, but she believed in me from the very beginning, which helped me believe in myself. She taught me how to analyse questions properly, challenged me to think critically and made lessons genuinely enjoyable. My confidence and grades improved significantly.”

“My grades were much higher than I expected. I achieved a 6 in English Language and a 7 in English Literature, despite initially being predicted just a pass. Thank you for helping me achieve these results.”
